The Homeless Gestapo

015.jpg

Looks like the benevolent Mayor Bill de Blasio will finally get proactive with the homeless crisis he picked up from the previous mayor and cockteasing presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg and that he himself exacerbated with his fruitless policies and promises while coddling his overlord developers and profitable non-profits while ignoring the ossified speculations and fabrications of market rate rents. For what he and his crack(ed) team in city hall have concocted a way that thinks will ameliorate the depressing omnipresence of people sleeping and dwelling on the streets, parks and subways.

Ready? From the 6 Square Feet digital publication:

“Mass surveillance” or massive outreach effort? The verdict seems to still be out on Mayor de Blasio’s new initiative to help solve the homelessness crisis in New York City. In a press release today announcing the new Outreach NYC program, the city says it will “mobilize thousands of frontline City Agency staff to request outreach assistance via 311 when they observe individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness” as a way to help them into shelters. To be exact, the total number of city employees who will receive this training is 18,000. But the Coalition for the Homeless feels that the plan merely implements “mass surveillance of homeless New Yorkers” without making investments in solutions.

In a statement, Giselle Routhier, Policy Director at Coalition for the Homeless, said, “The Mayor’s grand outreach plan is to implement mass surveillance of homeless New Yorkers, without necessary additional investments in real solutions like housing or low-threshold shelters. This is not a plan to ‘help’ anyone — it is a chilling and counterproductive plan to try to drive the problem out of sight.”

On the other side of the coin, Mayor de Blasio said, “We cannot attempt to address this issue in a vacuum. It’s time we all wear one uniform. Outreach NYC is our all-hands-on-deck approach to bring even more people in off the streets.”

To that end, the 18,000+ city workers who will receive training are employed by five agencies–the Department of Sanitation, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Fire Department, the Department of Buildings, and the Parks Department. They’ll be advised to dial 311 when they observe “individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness.” These calls will then be routed to a new Joint Command Center under the Department of Homeless Services and the NYPD. From there, according to the press release, “interagency staff will analyze trends, triage requests, and prioritize and deploy multi-Agency responses as appropriate.”

What we got here citizens, is that Mayor de Blasio has decided that the solution to stem homelessness is to assemble a Homeless Gestapo. Think it’s hyperbole or exaggeration. It’s even in the wording of the press release. All wear one uniform and the manifestation of a Joint Command Center to procure the data.

The we here is that every agency will have some municipal workers, from the NYPD to the Sanitation Dept to report anyone being an uncomfortable inconvenient sight of the city’s massive economic inequity and awful services for the indigent, mentally ill and displaced that passerby will happen to see (or even smell sometimes).

And how much will this cost the taxpayer that your city is trying to help avert their eyes from the less fortunate? 19 million dollars. Yet again, the city is allocating money in the wrong fucking place again. 19 million can probably build a few real 100% affordable housing buildings, a hospital, or at least provide vouchers. But no, de Blasio and his Windsor Terrace luxury brownstone dwelling DSS commissioner Steven Banks this money is rather best used for surveillance creeping and wants to take 18,000 city workers away from the jobs they are suppose to do to be data scrounging stormtrooper snitches to get the homeless population into shelters that they won’t go back to*.

With this pile of dumbfuckery, de Blasio and his fauxgressive cult administration are more concerned with a brief  micro solutions to the macro problem of homelessness. It’s not about giving the destitute relief or getting them back on their feet, it’s about covering up perpetual blight and bureaucratic incompetence of a depression in plain sight because all the luxury towers and preferred district gentrification can’t hide the crisis anymore. So they are going to continue to sweep the homeless under the rug by having thousands of city worker drones to snitch on them. As if their days working the streets aren’t arduous enough.

But remember, all this is “assistance” is meant to “help” people in need.

But it’s all for de Blasio to save face and cover his ass because he vainly wants to show that his neoliberal policies are working while feigning to be a liberal. Well, if he wants this to really work and impress his developer overlord donors who are clearly freaking out now how inescapable the homeless crisis is, this weak ass mayor better set aside another few million for brown shirts and armband emblems to wear for the 18,000 poor saps assigned to this expensive tech surveillance mission on the city’s most vulnerable and powerless. And probably another few million for a volunteer homeless monitor recruiting drive.

Since we all have to wear one uniform.

*This will be discussed here in a future post.

Impunity City Turns Three The Hard Way

073

Happy birthday to this. Impunity City, my contribution to reporting on the existential terminal stasis of my/your/this city and elsewhere is three years old today. Which makes it old enough to go to the bathroom by itself and qualify for pre-k.

It hasn’t been as busy as I want it to be, readership and clicks are still low but it has picked up lately thanks to being bequeathed the Queens Crap blog and my own and overly busy twitter account (just hit 200 followers, noice). So despite my still amateurish writing skills, it’s still justified to keep this running and going. In fact, with all the stupidity and corruption going on by our exalted leaders and people of undeserved influential status, this digital publication is one of the few checks to balance out all that wretched perpetual bullshit.

So to properly commemorate this anniversary along with the entermann’s danish above, this post and all the rest of the post to everyone and I mean everyone who still reads the Crapper and all of my consistent viewers on my social media account. You all make this possible and it gives me hope that one day I might get paid for reporting on these miserable occurrences, policy travesties benefiting the most avaricious, the collective lethargic mind state of the cellphone dependent and the still predominant power structures now rapidly fucking up society.

Gratitude and salutations. Goin’ on an on and on till the break of dawn…

Still live.

New York City Council Bestows Upon Their Constituents The Four Borough Tower Prisons

Screenshot_2019-10-25 Lord of the Rings The Two Towers (German) 11x17 Movie Poster (2002)(1)Screenshot_2019-10-25 Lord of the Rings The Two Towers (German) 11x17 Movie Poster (2002)Renditions of most recent “design build” phase of the tower prisons in the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan

Kew Gardens, Mott Haven, Boerum Hill, Downtown Manhattan, New York

The votes are in and the ground breaking will commence pretty soon for the four tower prisons in four boroughs of NYC. 8.7 billion dollars will be set aside to build these monstrosities in about 7 years so the isolated prisons and jails on Rikers Island will be summarily shut down.

This is what the citizens of the four boroughs were told by our elected know-better know-it-all’s in NYC City Council who cast their votes for it, their leader and Speaker Corey Johnson and that notoriously lazy big-footin’ Mayor de Blasio. Cojo guaranteed us that what will bring forth with these four majestic tower penitentiaries will be a more humane system as de Blasio followed him up by declaring the end of mass incarceration in this city.

So what these imbeciles claim is that buildings are the reason that the prison system is inherently damaged and not the debilitating conditions, shoddy services and perpetual continuance of crime among hardened violent prisoners along with corrections officers enabling indifference and abuse of authority inside of them that has festered in the past 80 years since Rikers was born. Supposedly, all of these factors are going to just disappear once convicts are transferred to a building with floors that resemble walking into a WeWork office.

How your city got to this “gamechanger” decision really took a lot of effort to get the result they wanted and will induce these towers on it’s citizens and future citizens of the neighborhoods of Kew Gardens, Mott Haven, Boerum Hill, and Chinatown. And it was all done with nasty machinating as de Blasio’s offices and minion aides stooped to the lowest levels of government obfuscation and secrecy to get this abomination plan passed. Like how former spokesman Eric Phillips kicked out a Patch reporter Maya Kaufman for trying to cover a community board hearing in Kew Gardens back in early March even though some other journalists were allowed to take notes inside. Ms. Kaufman also pointed out that the city was utilizing a cadre of individuals (or in this case , a pogrom) called Neighborhood Advisory Committees used to push the four tower prisons to provide optics of community participation as they were keeping the press out and minimizing dissent from actual residents of the neighborhoods they were pushing the towers on.

There was also the vile power moving made by the Boerum Hill district council member Stephen Levin, who during a closed door hearing involving government service effecting taxpayers threw up a member deference stipulation for other council members to follow regarding the land use rules of the districts where the towers were going in. So Levin was passively aggressively ordering his fellow elected colleagues to vote the way Karen Koslowitz of Kew Gardens, Margaret Chin of Chinatown and Diana Alaya of Mott Haven will vote. This was followed by the one public hearing for all four tower prisons that the city scheduled on the first days of school and also the diabolical way the city used the cops to prevent the public to attend by locking them outside for hours after the hearing commenced.

To top off the honest grafting inspired inducing of the tower prisons in those four towns, that went to the master machinator himself, Mayor Bill de Bastard (even though those four council members were going to vote for it anyway!). In the days leading up to the certain city council approval, de Blasio went into beast mode and offered honey glazed bribery carrots like affordable housing in Mott Haven, a community center, restoration of a park statue and even small business protections in Chinatown (so that’s what you gotta do to operate a small business in this town now) and a spanking total of eight more cops for Kew Gardens.

Besides the banana republic planning that went behind the effort to come to this horrid decision to shut down Rikers, the logic and the justifications behind this multi-billion dollar plan also doesn’t make a whit of sense at all. These tower prisons are supposed to be about 18 to 27 stories high (according to current estimates after the city promised to cut down some floors to “appease” some council members who have yet to defer to the four council members of the four borough apocalypse) yet they are described as smaller. They are projected to hold about 880 convicts in each one, provided that the crime rate continues to go down that these towers will only need to house 3,300 prisoners. All this is based on blind faith and guesstimating.

And the biggest question about these towers and the Rikers shutdown is what mass incarceration? Crime has been going down for over 20 years. They are looking at these monoliths to hold only 3,300 while Rikers currently houses 7,000 even has the crime rates remain comparably low to the 1970’s and 80’s but has remained stagnant in the last 10 years with gradual rises in serious offenses like rape, murder, assault, larceny and battery in just this year alone.

As for Dancing Cojo’s boast, it seems that besides the big windfall cash cow the developers will get from this gift from our representatives, another reason seems to be is an excuse for these people to grandstand about being the first city to do this. At the expense of neighborhoods were the towers will be built and the communities they disrespected and undermined. And will eventually disenfranchise. But it doesn’t matter to all the term-limited council members who voted for the tower prisons and the core four council members who don’t live even a mile away from the monoliths they approved. Notably East Harlem resident Council Member Ayala who doesn’t even live in the same borough as Mott Haven, a town heralded to be the next Williamsburg!

Even though the four tower prisons is a go, it still doesn’t mean Rikers will get shut down. Even after the Blaz, Cojo and city council held a ludicrous hearing voting to ensure that no new jails would be built on the island ever again so they can preemptively stop the next mayor or council members to decide to expand building facilities on the island whoever they may be. Although with Dancing Cojo running and being favored to win it’s a wonder why they all bothered since he’s all for this. Because it all depends on what the future of the city will be like and currently it’s not looking good especially with how violent this October has been since they voted for the four towers to rise. And isn’t it interesting that these prisons have to be towers. It’s as if it has to be commensurate with all the other behemoth tower pestilence hyperdevelopment that has engulfed this city like festering weeds of glass and steel.

Another bothersome thing about these tower jails that will rise casting foreboding shadows on the towns is the nagging omission of the fifth borough Staten Island and why it’s exempt from having a tower there if it’s all about the humane mission of keeping prisoners close to their neighborhoods. Because according to the Corrections Officers Union head Elias Husmadeen, 13% of the inmates on Rikers are from S.I.. If you calculate it, that’s about maybe 800 prisoners, which would be sufficient enough to house in a 20 story building.

But being that these tower prisons will be under a “design build” program, the developer contracted to build them (which is Tishman Properties affiliate AECOM) can just make it up as they go along and will eventually add more stories to commensurate with any spontaneous rises in serious crimes. It actually might take longer as Rikers will continue to be a horrific place and will certainly get worse and more crowded.

We can go on and on and on and on about what this 8.7 billion could have obviously went to besides “more humane” tower prisons. Improving humane living conditions in public housing buildings and homeless shelters, both of which will be continued to be deterred for another 6 fucking years by this goddamn city.

de Blasio also spoke of redemption about closing Rikers, in fact Mayor Repetition said the word 3 fucking times, as if redemption comes with denying the wills and rights of the constituents of Mott Haven, Kew Gardens, Chinatown and Boerum Hill who universally did not want these towers in their neighborhoods casting ominous shadows over them. But after he shows up at the ceremonial groundbreaking of the first tower prison, he’ll be long gone as that one and the three others get built in the unfortunate four neighborhoods which will become blighted with more traffic from street obstructing bollards for the machinery and environmental damaging conditions from the noise and soot from the construction of the prison towers. Which will be overseen by the next sap to get the keys to City Hall. And if it is Mayor Cojo, he’s not going to be dancing and leaping that much when all these utopian visions put forth by these tower prisons won’t pan out like he and the other city council clowns who voted for this shit all hoped it would (or hopefully not at all, for his defiance of the public’s rejection should end his political career).

Till then fellow citizens of New York, send your thoughts and prayers in solidarity to the towns of Kew Gardens, Mott Haven, Boerum Hill and Chinatown. Because if these towers aren’t sufficient to hold a growing prison population or even if more people get caught up in some shit while awaiting trial (say, from protesting), then the future city will suddenly need to find another town to build another humane tower prison.

Bill de Bastard

d6xunzpw4amihkc.png

“This is your city”. When Mayor Bill de Blasio ran for re-election in 2017 barely a year after he dodged charges for running an anarchic pay-to-play system with corporations and agencies with municipal business with this city, this bland platitude was his campaign slogan. It looked like it was supposed to mean that his vow on his first day in office back in 2014 to end the tale of two of them had been achieved and it singularly belonged to all us New Yawkers.

As everyone is aware, it is 2019. And it’s still an inequitable fucking mess for this city’s working poor and middle class who still make it run. But it’s crystal clear who the Mayor was talking to when he said “your city” and it’s not only who you would expect by default meaning the benefactors and profiteers of the Gentrification Industrial Complex, the overlords of real estate development or even the transplants that stupidly overspend for their studio and one bedroom apts (and gut converted tenement ones in their portfolios). Nope. The one he was talking about was himself, Bill de Blasio.

Since his farcical presidential run ended, Bill has been a real huge dick lately. Actually it was just a week before he decided to terminate it, when he went on WNYC for his weekly Friday bloviating interview with the sappy host Brian Lehrer. A citizen called in concerning the affordable housing program that he runs has not made it out to the lower income earning people or the ballooning homeless population that need it the most. And this is how this monster responded:

“We can’t just do affordable housing for the lowest income folks,”

Now I have been thoroughly critical of this mayor since the start of this digital publication 3 years ago mostly because of what his morally bankrupt decisions have had on his constituents, but with that tone-deaf statement and with yours truly being a full-time working poor low income folk, now it’s fucking personal.

Because this goddamn Mayor, along with the Housing and Preservation Dept and the Economic Development Corporation with this affordable housing scheme has made it officially impossible for me, lower income and homeless folks to get a decent place to live. And in a town of our choosing.

Just recently city adverts for a new “affordable housing” tower in Fordham Manor in the Bronx showed studio apartments going for about $475 for tenants to pay 30% the AMI (area median income), while studios in apartment buildings like Williamsburg and Bushwick in Brooklyn go for nearly $2,000 a month for higher income earners who make about 120% of the AMI. Not to dis the Bronx but Fordham Manor and a lot towns near there still have crime happening on the regular but at least the rental value and the qualifying incomes is commensurate with what the boroughs citizens collectively earn a year. But what’s the justification for those upscale rents in WilliamBush? Those towns have public housing and plenty of rent stabilized buildings that haven’t been poached yet.

“That’s just not the reality, what you’re presenting,” The mayor also said to his call-in constituent. Au contrare you monster. There is obviously something wrong with how affordable and middle income is being defined and how it’s been obviously manipulated and exaggerated and they are legitimizing these overvalued prices in certain areas. And it’s because de Blasio’s “affordable housing” program is literally based on segregation and the eventual disenfranchisement against said lower income folk, who continue to languish in shitty dwellings and even homeless shelters as they await to hit the asinine lottery system your city is basing their horrid system on. All you need is an online city application and a dream.

Keep dreaming though. Because all these new apartment buildings do not fulfill the actual demand that was meant for it. The percentage of apts mostly favor the higher income bracket citizens who don’t need the city’s help in getting a place to live. But I guess the purpose for assigning 70 to 80% of apts for market rate is to give transients a hand to move into the most vibrant and hip towns where they are located.

Here’s another presentation of reality Mayor Asshole, there are over 70,000 homeless people in this city and over 200,000 vacant luxury condos. According to a recent study, it shows a quarter of these glass stick tower apts. you and your predecessor Bloomberg enabled to get built have not been sold and a majority of these apartments were sold aren’t even lived in most of the year. So instead of trying to end the tale of two cities, you’ve caused about 6 new cities to get built.

It’s not just the poor people that de Blasio is trolling either, it’s also the middle class looking to buy a house and maybe have desires to plant generational roots in your city. I don’t know what the source is of this verbal turd that defecated from the mayor’s faceanus but it’s a vile one.

There are so many fucked up aspects to this; one is that this monster asshole owns two homes now in Park Slope and was able to get them by never having a civilian job, bought them with his taxpayer funded salaries and while he’s lounging at Gracie Mansion he is renting it out to people paying above the market rate. And number two (pun intended) this observation is not only an attempt at false sympathy to reach out to homeowners he’s ignored for the last 6 years but in actuality de Bastard is humblebragging about his good fortune acquiring his real estate treasure before Brooklyn became a world wide brand.

There is so, so much more to level this guy but they are going to be saved for future posts. And as is farcical five month prez campaign summer shown, he doesn’t give a shit. The haughtiness he’s perfected has made him seemingly immune to criticism, from the funniest to the righteous kind. And it’s not stemmed in the elitism that one develops during the job after getting elected. No, this is based on his wanton corruption and what he has been fortunate enough to get away with.

Take the recent revelation regarding the dastardly shit he pulled when he was running for re-election in 2017 (the your city campaign), de Bastard attempted to drag in a deputy mayor to meet a Dem party donor from Texas despite being under investigation for his nefarious machinating with his in-office pay to play Campaign for One New York 501 (c) (4) PAC. He did wind up getting the capped donation of $4,950 from him and another $4,950 from his relative. de Bastard also “advised” his staffers to raise cash for him at a fundraiser in Miami but to cover for him and declare that he wasn’t present for any bribe and diabolically told his staffers to arrange a call with a developer who ponied up the 4,950 and previously donated $40,000 to CONY and 5 large to Blaz’s state PAC that failed to get two Democrat state assembly candidates elected. The sneakiest thing de Bastard used his staffers for was to spend campaign money to produce a video slamming his mayoral opponent Nicole Malliotakis.

This amazing display of political impunity and recidivist abuse of his power, exploitation of city service workers and barely legal donor money raising easily translated to his now legendary failed presidential run. Where he utilized his absurdly misnomered city and state “Fairness PACs to launder big money donations around like a shell game street hustler to avoid reporting the amounts and from whence they came to the Federal Elections Commission for months. Even for months before he made his official announcement to run. As his campaign got worse and worse and his polls remained steady at 0, he came to the realization that it wasn’t his time to run and decided to go back to the job he got elected to do, even if the real motive was that he was siphoning money from the state PAC for personal and travel expenses for him and his wife and son who were on the trail with him.

Cosplay candidate de Blasio managed to get over a million for his idiotic presidential campaign and wound up with just a little over $49,000. This was money that was suppose to used “fairly” to help boost other Democrat candidates and Bill pissed most of it all away in 5 months. Talk about money being in the wrong hands. But the Blaz is just as addicted to donor money as any strung out basehead, dope fiend or tweeker is addicted to crack, smack or crystal meth.

But this mayor is not qualified to have anything in his hands, including a staff of 300 city officials and control over city services that he sells out at the drop of a four and five-figure check. Especially for those that are truly desperate for it like the lower income people that this lying bastard mayor promised and was elected twice to help. His betrayal to his constituency and his brazen self-righteous corruption is brazen. Since he got away with breaking the “spirit of the law” with his heinous donor money machinating, the recidivist shit he’s done since those botched investigations has turned that spirit into a corpse that has been raped and mutilated.

“I want to live in a world where the spirit of the law is upheld over the clever diddling of loopholes”

Caitlin Johnstone

This shameless, unapologetic bastard mayor may have gotten off thanks to certain loopholes that lets him get away with his heinous double dealing pay to play government and real estate conspiracy operation. He has absolutely no boundaries and it’s fucked up that he is going to be in control of this town for another two years as it turns into a dystopian Blade Runner towered wasteland obscuring the poverty and rising crime growing on the streets…

….of your city.

Bastard.

Vision Zero Study Enables Cellphone Junkies Habitual Obliviousness

093.jpg

In A New York, New York State Of Mindless

Something crawled out of the bowels of Mayor de Blasio’s Department Of Transportation not long ago that shouldn’t bode well for this city. Or state. Or this nation and planet and society at large. It is an incredible and retarded study about how citizens habitual cellphone usage while walking on these busy streets is not hazardous.

Seriously guys and dolls:

NY Daily News

Texting, checking email, Googling that restaurant across the street or just looking for your destination on a map factored in just two pedestrian deaths from 2014 to 2017, says a report by the city Department of Transportation.

Those two deaths were just a drop in the bucket compared to the 534 pedestrians who were killed on city streets during the four-year span.

One of the cell phone users killed in a car crash during the study period was texting, and the other was reaching for a device dropped in the street, DOT researchers found.

“DOT found little concrete evidence that device-induced distracted walking contributes significantly to pedestrian fatalities and injuries,” the eight-page report states.

A better way to improve pedestrian safety and save lives is cracking down on dangerous drivers, the DOT report says.

As smartphones rapidly grew in popularity, state lawmakers in 2017 passed a law requiring the DOT to look into “distracted walking.”

Though the DOT found the legislature’s concern was a non-issue, its report noted that the city is campaigning to encourage young people to be alert as they cross the street.

But the real problem, the DOT said in the report released Friday, is speeding cars.

“The best way to address distracted walking, and all forms of distraction, is by creating a road environment focused on speed management — where vehicles are traveling at a safe speed so that crashes can be avoided, and when crashes do occur they are not fatal or severe,” the report said.

Not even not much of hazard. Nothing to fear or fret to repress you from typing vapid texts you can just verbally tell someone on the actual original function of the cellphone. No symbolic meteor like a car or a bike, a street gang or a yelling crazed derelict coming your way crashing your social network universe feeding as you post a photo on Instagapchat or troll some message on Twitter, Facebook or Reddit. Zero.

Funny I mentioned zero, because this report was written in association with de Blasio’s ineffective Vision Zero program for safe streets that has not prevented zero deaths or accidents at all.

The report itself is incomplete since it spuriously compares cellphone accident data with regular vehicular and pedestrian accidents and looks like it was gathering dust somewhere for a while since it was completed in 2017 and the data compiling cellphone usage accidents only goes up to 2015 and despite the low amount of fatalities tabulated, they actually went up. But it does point out cellphone addicts utter irresponsibility feeding their texting and continuing scofflaw pedestrian habits by not paying attention to signals. It also devotes a few pages to what the city does best, producing PSA videos, awareness campaigns and vibrant social events to promote awareness, which are the only thing this city seems to excel at.

The reason for releasing this study 2 years later is not only because of the usual delaying of information concerning the citizenry that has been expected of the de Blasio administration but because of the city’s redesigning of the streets to “calm” vehicular traffic. Everything about this study puts the onus of responsibility on the driver instead of the cellphone junkie who can’t put the goddamn phone down for even a second. Imagine you’re driving approaching a stop sign and once you think it’s clear, some imbecile materializes with little white sticks in his or her ears while diddling on their screen keyboard to test your defensive driving skills and your brakes.

As the study attests (and the sensationalist way the NY Daily News reports it) this could lead to cordoned off lanes and street corridors strictly for walking cellphone usage. This shouldn’t warrant any city planning that might get inspired by it, although it looks like it already has. What else can explain the justification for the all the LinkNYC kiosks and wifi in the subways and buses? Maybe NYC has a plan to build utopian villages reliant on oblivious cellphone navigation, like what Google’s trying to do in Toronto with their frightening Quayside project (or even in the newly christened Hudson Square on Soho’s west side).

It isn’t like nobody is aware of what the streets look like these days when you compare it to just a decade ago. 99% of the citizenry owns a cellphone and possibly 98% of commuters just can’t put it down. And you wanna bet that the people who did this study consist of them too? Especially the corrupt moron mayor and his equally oblivious cult of over 300 staffers and aides. Along with the editors of the NY Daily News who did this story. There must be a bias and a collective guilty conscience going on here.

Surely the main reason this study was recently put out besides the aforementioned theories concocted in this post is that the more people are on their cellphones, which the city hopes will be even more now that the DOT are telling them they are not responsible for their addiction, the web services will continue to make billions from the advertising that will be viewed by the celly fiends from the data revenue and personal information they will usurp from them.

The cellphone junkies of all ages, while not strung out or filthy, are no different than addicts of meth, heroin, crack, coke or opioid pills; they all selfish people who prioritize their selfish needs over the safety of others and themselves and wander around in a hazy daze like K-2 smoking zombies. Sure not that many celly fiends are getting killed now, but just wait for it. Then when some imbecile is texting some banal shit to his acquaintance, comment about something trending on the twitter, watching an amazon show or playing a app game and then gets clobbered by an approaching car, train or bike then you will see the inevitable clusterfuck of belated outrage of city officials suddenly decrying cellphone overuse. Followed up by a new old study critical of it too.

Until then, and if there are people reading this walking right now, pick your stupid fucking head up and read it later when you’re sitting on your ass.

And to deBlasio’s DOT, why don’t you do a study regarding pedestrian and accident data on walking and chewing gum since you’re gonna waste our time trying to normalize stupid behavior like this?

Miami 2019 (I’ve Seen The Lights Go Out In Canarsie)

https://s3.amazonaws.com/bklyner/bklyner/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Canarsie-2.jpgNot on Broadway

Back in July on a Saturday night on the hottest week of this summer, the lights went out on Broadway as well as the entire 30 block radius spanning Midtown West to the Upper West Side for five hours on the anniversary of the 1977 blackout that plunged the city into a free-for-all crime wave. During this one though and fortunately for citizens and transients in that area at the time, particularly from Times Square to Columbus Circle, the power got wiped out when it was still daylight and the streets were still congested enough with vehicles and pedestrians that nothing really crazy or any purge-like mischief occurred on the streets. People were still milling about, some got involved in directing traffic until the NYPD got deployed and even actors and musicians from theaters and Carnegie Hall gathered on the sidewalks to entertain passerby as their shows were shut down.

Council speaker Corey Johnson made like Giuliani on 9/11 and immediately took charge since Mayor de Blasio was making an ass out of himself trying to pitch progressive policies he stole from Bernie Sanders to a handful of people in Iowa. All in all, it was practically a good time had by all who happened to be there. Although it was surely not appreciated by people relaxing or having company in their apartments or trapped in elevators; or commuters stuck on the trains or standing in a virtual schvitz in the subway stations; or tenants in public housing buildings going through another spontaneous shutdown; or patients and doctors in hospitals and even people seriously paying to watch Jennifer Lopez sing and dance at the Garden (maybe the only redeeming thing about the blackout)

But the aftermath was not so swell, as time came to demand accountability from Con Edison, and out came the righteous indignation bloviating from the likes of our Governor and Mayor. Andrew Cuomo got to do his alpha dog thing and condemned the corporate utility, peppering with threats against them by claiming to use another energy company, and Mayor Big Slow came up with blase’ hypothesis of his own after Con Ed’s ambiguous p.r. response for the causes of the blackout. (hey de Blase’, new insult)

Actually, responses. Crazy Con Eddie’s public relations team seem to be taken aback of the isolated region power failure, as they went back and forth trying to explain what triggered the blackout. Their initial assessment derived from a manhole explosion in the Upper West Side then announced that it was a technical glitch at a substation in Hell’s Kitchen while adamantly refusing to consider a grid power overload. It turned out that it was a faulty transfer that caused the explosion of a 13,000 volt cable underground on the Upper West Side. Which they waited 3 days to confirm after they got it right the first time. Three Days. Granted the mayor and governor were right to question the city’s sole energy providers strange ambiguity in divulging this information, as they themselves also rely on this deceptive tactic to mollify their constituents being the hypocrites they are.

A few days after Con Ed’s revelation, their flacks must have got self-conscious and thought that transparency was the way to go in order to ensure credibility with their customers of the five boroughs. So on the day when they finally told the truth about the Broadway blackout and with the weather forecasts predicting temps pushing 100 on the weekend, Con Edward glibly announced/warned that more blackouts would occur. While honesty like this is welcome, it’s dismaying when it’s coming from a billion dollar energy corporation responsible for power maintenance for 24 hours that should always be taken for granted.

Well the weekend came around and on this way hotter and sultry 100 degree Saturday night, Con Ed’s self-fulling prophecy manifested as the sole energy company decided to shut down power grids in Southeast Brooklyn and parts of Southeast Queens overnight and Sunday morning in a preemptive strike to avoid a citywide blackout

The reactions over 30,000 citizens from those selected areas victimized were admirably cynical and appalled. Especially from a woman in Canarsie who justifiably implied and accused the Con of regional discrimination with their disingenuous claims of preserving electricity.

“You’re making us suffer to preserve who?, Who are you preserving? Why are we not important?”

The answer to that can be clarified with pictures. Because they are worth more than a thousand words from Con Ed’s p.r. toady and from the obtuse statements from de Blasio and Cuomo, along with the latter’s abysmal demands.

These are what and who Con Ed and as much as they feign ignorance Your City are intentionally preserving energy for. These are just the obvious ones. On top is Times Square, which is not the Times Square of old, where the most creative living ad was a steaming cup of coffee. Apparently, the Department Of Buildings must have thought that putting 2, 5 and 20 story and about a block wide L.E.D. television screens and having them run every second was just a grand fucking idea. Somehow, while Con Ed was spinning the cause of the blackout for news consumption and with all these literally humongous obvious signs, they did not mention one time that it was a power overload that caused the cable to explode. Not fucking once. Who are they kidding, oh yeah, everyone.

Really tho, these bigger energy devouring monsters than Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man combined. Then you have to factor in the buildings these screens cloak and all the new luxury tower and hotel development in just under 5 years with Hudson Yards and further up the Hudson River side, plus Long Island City, Williamsburgh and Greenpoint, Park Slope and Downtown Brooklyn and imagine all the energy consumed with the A.C.’s on full blast as citizens in Canarsie and Jamaica sweltered in the darkness.

All the strips of those tony areas must be taken into account to, which are filled with high end bars, clubs and restaurants with rooftop access. Surely businesses in the southern part of Brooklyn had to be sacrificed to maintain those aforementioned town’s vibrancy because Con Ed’s intentional energy inequity and austerity shutdown.

A City Council hearing a few weeks ago addressed this concern. Council Speaker Corey Johnson found enough time to stop dancing and leaping in public like an idiot and grilled Con Ed’s representatives by abbreviating some cuss words with his accusations towards them as he other council members feigned righteous indignation as the electric company continued to bounce these questions off. Since none of those questions brought the scenario of an overload for the excessive use of electricity. Since they mostly focused on trying to maintain the infrastructure of the grid instead of the causation of the blackout. Focusing on the feature instead of the bug, which is that the grid cannot handle the energy consumed from these recently built towers and the overwhelming demand of a bigger and denser population residing in them. Which shouldn’t be a surprise because that scenario was never considered when a transformer exploded in Astoria that made the evening sky turn florescent blue last December that resembled the manifestation of Gozer or the return of the Highlander. But Corey was more concerned with the way Con Ed’s reps optics looked in how they were coming off. Yeah, he’s going to be some mayor.

Surely this will continue to happen while our officials dither and don’t probe deep enough in their inquiries and Con Ed will continue to be the city’s lone energy provider and surely fuck up when the next heatwave or extreme weather condition comes. Because with all the technology and actual demand for renewable energy sources and as the city got taller, denser and overpopulated, Con Ed never thought to build a backup power system deriving from solar or wind. Wonder how they are going to handle Google’s expansion and Disney’s new studios on Soho’s west side?

Maybe this is why Con Ed are being glib. Their VP for “government relations” in charge for dispensing this palatable information used to work for the city’s worthless, unnecessary and agency that has long outlived its usefulness except for the wealthy; the Economic Development Coporation.*

As others will leave and move to Florida for cheaper rents, lower taxes and what they presume will be a better maintained energy grid (although they will be taking a risk with global sea level rise).

The city got lucky there was no looting, rioting and fucking in the streets during the first blackout and the preemptive second one. Next time, especially if Ed pulls off the latter, people are not going to wait to question why or whom. They are going to demand answers with torches and yellow vests.

The Impeachment Of President Trump Begins

New York Times

Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced on Tuesday that the House would initiate a formal impeachment inquiry against President Trump, charging him with betraying his oath of office and the nation’s security by seeking to enlist a foreign power to tarnish a rival for his own political gain.

Ms. Pelosi’s declaration, after months of reticence by Democrats who had feared the political consequences of impeaching a president many of them long ago concluded was unfit for office, was a stunning turn that set the stage for a history-making and exceedingly bitter confrontation between the Democrat-led House and a defiant president who has thumbed his nose at institutional norms.

“The actions taken to date by the president have seriously violated the Constitution,” Ms. Pelosi said in a brief speech invoking the nation’s founding principles. Mr. Trump, she added, “must be held accountable — no one is above the law.”

She said the president’s conduct revealed his “betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of our national security and betrayal of the integrity of our elections.”

Ms. Pelosi’s decision to push forward with the most severe action that Congress can take against a sitting president could usher in a remarkable new chapter in American life, touching off a constitutional and political showdown with the potential to cleave an already divided nation, reshape

Mr. Trump’s presidency and the country’s politics, and carry heavy risks both for him and for the Democrats who have decided to weigh his removal.

This is the complaint sent by a whistleblower in the intelligence community to the community’s inspector general, about an “urgent concern” that “the President of the United States is using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election. The interference, the whistleblower wrote, includes “pressuring a foreign country to investigate one of the President’s main domestic political rivals.”

The complaint is central to the impeachment inquiry launched by House Democrats.

UNCLASSIFIED

August 12, 2019

The Honorable Richard Burr
Chairman
Select Committee on Intelligence
United States Senate

The Honorable Adam Schiff
Chairman
Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence
United States House of Representatives

Dear Chairman Burr and Chairman Schiff:

I am reporting an “urgent concern” in accordance with the procedures outlined in 50 U.S.C. §3033(k)(5)(A). This letter is UNCLASSIFIED when separated from the attachment.

In the course of my official duties, I have received information from multiple U.S. Government officials that the President of the United States is using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election. This interference includes, among other things, pressuring a foreign country to investigate one of the President’s main domestic political rivals. The President’s personal lawyer, Mr. Rudolph Giuliani, is a central figure in this effort. Attorney General Barr appears to be involved as well.

  • Over the past four months, more than half a dozen U.S. officials have informed me of various facts related to this effort. The information provided herein was relayed to me in the course of official interagency business. It is routine for U.S. officials with responsibility for a particular regional or functional portfolio to share such information with one another in order to inform policymaking and analysis.
  • I was not a direct witness to most of the events described. However, I found my colleagues’ accounts of these events to be credible because, in almost all cases, multiple officials recounted fact patterns that were consistent with one another. In addition, a variety of information consistent with these private accounts has been reported publicly.

I am deeply concerned that the actions described below constitute “a serious or flagrant problem, abuse, or violation of law or Executive Order” that “does not include differences of opinions concerning public policy matters,” consistent with the definition of an “urgent concern” in 50 U.S.C. §3033(k)(5)(G). I am therefore fulfilling my duty to report this information, through proper legal channels, to the relevant authorities.

Like Trump likes to say, I am not a fan of this president. But this “whistleblower”‘s account is plainly based on hearsay and gossip. Of all the things they could impeach Trump on, from years of abusing the emoluments clause to his recent deference to Royal Dictatorship nation Saudi Arabia and whoring our military forces to them, the Democrats and administration insiders are relying on entrapment.

This latest attempt to take down the president with just a year away from the next election, and with two viable candidates capable of beating him (Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard, yeah that’s right, Tulsi Gabbard), the Dems have taken the harsh lesson from Mueller’s shitty report that didn’t find dick about election interference from Russia and are trying to pull an Al Capone on Trump with this weapons deal phone call to Ukraine. When a only a few years before Trump became president, Vice President and current candidate Uncle Joe Biden pulled the same extortion style shit on that country when his idiot son Hunter was involved with a corrupt energy firm that was being investigated and that prosecutor got fired and replaced with someone “solid”.

While Chelsea Manning continues to languish in prison while being fined daily and Edward Snowden is still in exile in Russia because of their heroic and genuine whistleblowing that revealed actual harm to our nation and it’s reputation as a benevolent dispenser of democracy and trustworthy steward of our personal freedoms and privacy, and being that this whistleblower is a CIA agent the establishment DC Democrats are relying on for impeachment, this guy is more like a whistlemole.

Jeffrey Epstein’s Perfect Execution

060

New York City, New York

It’s been a few weeks since the, umm, reported suicide of Jeffrey Epstein, multi-millionaire financial advisor and money manager, child predator and trafficker. Conveniently for Epstein, he was detained in the Manhattan Correctional Center after his first “suicide attempt” was “stopped” by a cop who slaughtered four people. The MCC is one this city’s wretched facilities, rife with horrid conditions and atypical lousy food. But what made his fatal jailbreak easy was the fact that the jail’s personnel was understaffed, guarded by C.O.’s working overtime during the wee hours and notably a person assigned to fill in to guard who wasn’t even an official C.O., (which for some reason there hasn’t been much or any inquiry why he was assigned that position and what his job history was). At the time when he snuffed it, he was actually put back on suicide watch.

It was easy to figure out that Epstein was not going to learn anything from his sabbatical incarceration away from society, after getting a light sentence from his prior child rape charges because he was “of intelligence” according to Trump’s former Labor Secretary Acosta. But high society easily forgives and embraces multi-millionaires, whether doing some light embezzlement or treason and in this case child trafficking. Which the pedophile Epstein continued to fiendishly dabble in from his release a decade ago notably at his vast and eerie Upper East Side mansion a block from Central Park which got immediately raided during his overdue arrest.

453

Overdue being that District Attorney Cy Vance lowered Epstein’s sexual offender level status, as the NYPD didn’t bother to do checkups on his creepy mansion or even bring Epstein downtown to register as a level 3 offender despite judge’s orders, as the statutory rape addict continued to engage and arrange sexual trysts involving hundreds of young girls with the aid of his platonic girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell. (The relationship these two have is almost like an evil version of Jerry Seinfeld and Elaine Benes)

https://proxy.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fthenypost.files.wordpress.com%2F2019%2F08%2Fmaxwell-epstein.jpg%3Fquality%3D90%26strip%3Dall%26w%3D1200&f=1https://cdn.newsapi.com.au/image/v1/206b16d8efa239e7bd6dc94ebc5e8f29?width=316

To think that if Cy Vance wasn’t such an oligarch ass kisser and the NYPD were as aggressive to keep tabs on an internationally known sexual predator as they were to stop and frisk Black and Hispanic people and combing colleges for Muslims, they could have got a warrant and broke down the door to Epstein’s townhouse and arrested him 8 years ago. And they probably could have collared Prince Andrew during a blow job with a 14-year-old girl.

059

455.jpg

Who knows if Epstein would have wound up if he was caught back then. Probably dead too under strange and suspicious circumstance and coincidence also. He had a lot of powerful and pretty much immoral friends and associates that didn’t want their evil sexual piccadillos or how they acquired their finances exposed back then either.

But for now, what we got according to corporate news, has been determined a suicide and everyone is supposed to believe and accept it. Even though for some reason in this age of infinite and omniscient surveillance, there is no video footage of Epstein’s determined suicide. Even though Epstein plead not guilty to all charges and he paid some of the inmates commissary for protection. Even though the autopsy found a bone in his neck that was broken which is usually caused by strangulation. And the sheets given to inmates are not even strong enough to squeeze the cream out of a twinkie.

Lo and behold, video footage was available, but it turned out to be damaged or unreadable or some bullshit. I guess that’s what you have to expect in a run down, debilitated, vermin infested, understaffed correctional facility.

Which incidentally is the perfect place to execute the perfect crime on the most wanted man in the world, by those violated and those that did the violating. Although not as gruesome but still barbaric, Epstein’s suicide is akin to the butchering of Washington Post reporter Adnan Kashoggi by 15 men associated with Prince Mohammed Bin Salman in Saudi Arabia’s embassy in Turkey. Kashoggi was another man who knew too much, but Epstein knew tons more. He even was close with MBS too. There’s just too much to know and it’s way above my pay grade, which is zero.

But all I can offer about this convoluted FUBAR coverup is this:

That all questions and theories on Epstein’s “suicide” are moot. It’s common and horribly accepted knowledge that the wealthiest people in the world and the politicians who are obeisant to them don’t want anything to ruin their heavily guarded hedonistic lifestyles and swollen bank accounts.

Affixing A Hole

051The star of the show.

New York is not only famous for being the biggest city in the world (by default, reputation and hype) but it’s also infamous for it’s potholes which manifest from time to time and also notorious for the tardiness to repair them. But decades riding (and at few occasions driving) in this big city of dreams, I don’t think I have ever seen the creative and quarter-assed way Mayor de Blasio’s Department of Transportation has displayed to remediate or even fix these blights on the roads and pavement. Especially with the usage of traffic cones.

Take the header photo of the subway grating. Clearly the hatch door is missing. Either it fell off or some enterprising derelict managed to rip it off and sold it for scrap. Or maybe by a MTA low paid contractor worker.

Despite how hideous and hazardous that looks, it doesn’t remotely compare to what the DOT is enabling or even ordering to temporarily remedy new road hazards on the streets this summer. Like this patch job on Central Park West.

007

Looks like something went wrong on this road here, which looks like it was milled and repaved not long ago.

008

Looking at this, I had thoughts of what else could be down there. Although I am partially glad that it the city affixed this hole, even if a rabbit won’t be able to make it to brunch with the Mad Hatter. Anyone could have rode over it and got a nasty flat or even ruined their wheel. Or maybe fall into another dimension or time. Other concerns I had was some sort of entity (or entities) that would rise from the depths of the netherworld like those shadows in “Ghost” or even worse a hipster version of Chutulu.

010

Take a look at that depth, that’s about the size of the standard foot and a half high cone that are frequently used. Usually the safety standard would entail that inverted cone and a few others to surround that hole and obviously for a work order to close the street to repair it. But now the D.O.T., which is ever so busy with other things like shutting down streets for film shoots and helping arrange fun festival weekends barring driving on weekends, is now just looking at these spooky craters and putting a big orange cork in it.

After placing a message on the city’s social media account, the void did get remedied as it got tagged for eventual repair.

058

They also stuffed it with what what looks like powdered sugar covered wet paper towels.

059

After this I thought for sure the city won’t be stupid enough to be this lazy and careless when the next hole appears. But I stood corrected and beside myself when I saw this asphalt buttplug again in Hell’s Kitchen.

050051052

This one was even worse. Fortunately this hole was actually not much of a danger to cars being that it was pass the crosswalk and away from the lane, but one could easily fall into the abyss walking, skating or riding on it. Especially when your staring at your phone screen like a stupid junkie.

To be fair, the DOT are still applying these orange cones properly for the majority of unsightly road hazards, when the holes are too big to use them as buttplugs.

244495

Well, sometimes.

610611

191

But the de Blasio’s D.O.T.’s shiftlessness is not limited to the lame efforts and solutions to warn citizens of road hazards, it also applies his Department of Environmental Protection for our dilapidated water catch basins. Especially the ones in the perpetually ignored neighborhoods in Southeast Queens.

Like this one here. This fucking wreck in South Richmond Hill has been like this for about a year. There’s suppose to be a big metal thing there on top. It’s a wonder how the city is able to lose parts like that and how mindblowing it is that they don’t immediately replace it.  Supposedly some homeless people or junkies find it (or pry it out themselves) and sell it for scrap too.

748.jpg

057

This gives the impression that the city contracted Fred Flintstone’s employer Slate Quarry to renovate it.

https://i.pinimg.com/474x/73/a9/00/73a90047c779637692cca40a8c11e7aa.jpg

Then there’s this abomination:

060059062

I want to mock this with another cartoon analogy but it’s just too repulsive. Fortunately, it probably will get repaired since it’s on a corner and it’s part of the citywide renovation to make them better for the handicapped.

And isn’t it nice of the de Blasio’s D.E.P. to provide a one legged girder along with a taped orange cone? It’s the equivalent of tying a string on your pinky to remember something.

085

It’s not the case for this cavernous basin though:541

It looks like the D.E.P. noticed this too while they were still around town. So they had a spare leg, girder and orange cone to remedy any resident’s worries.

062

Surely, this was encouraging that remediation was on the way. But as Staten Island rock heroes Anthrax used to say…NOT!

018

Unfuckingbeilievable and rigoddamndiculous. The D.E.P.’s saw fit to blacktop patch the hole and reinforce it with some discarded wood and just removed the leg from the fucking girder and left it there. Yeah, that looks durable, schmucks.

Who knows what 99 cent store inspired dinky fixes this city will to do our slowly crippling infrastructure. Because potholes don’t discriminate.

From Richmond Hill in Queens

057

To NoMad in Manhattan

150152

Rest assured that these holes will get the standard safety cone buttplug treatment, as it’s now being applied to broken off parking sign poles like this one:

162

161

And citizens, if you see these holes, say something about them. The city’s social media accounts do respond fast. But if results aren’t manifesting fast enough, don’t be shy to be proactive and do it yourself. How hard can it be to shove something in a disturbing looking hole.

The de Blasio D.O.T. standard street apparatuses won’t be hard to find.

Despite The President’s Racist Tirades, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Must Fire Her Chief Of Staff, Saikat Chakrabarti

https://proxy.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fa57.foxnews.com%2Fmedia2.foxnews.com%2FBrightCove%2F694940094001%2F2019%2F03%2F05%2F931%2F524%2F694940094001_6010177054001_6010181983001-vs.jpg%3Fve%3D1%26tl%3D1&f=1

A few weeks ago on the heels of the congressional hearings of the Senate’s border funding bill, a brash man in his 30’s  decided to take to social media and rail against the establishment very old guard and “moderate” Democrats for their support of it. And the social media storm came from the chief of staff of the most pop-centric elected official of our time (and arguably maybe all time since the young Kennedys) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Saikat Chakrabarti. Although he made salient points about the congressional hacks constant cave-ins, he made a boneheaded analogy comparing Speaker Pelosi and the other Dems voting for it to the Dixiecrats of nearly a century ago, which he immediately deleted. This led to Pelosi and her assembled old and rich peers to come down hard on Ocasio-Cortez and also three other women who objected to then rejected the bill, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Rahsida Tailb, and Rep. Ayanna Pressely (which AOC’s chief of staff also name dropped in his thread) who are now affectionately branded by the said establishment Dem hacks as “the Squad”, purely to undermine and degrade their popularity, familiarity and whatever ideas to make the country a better place.

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez then backed herself into a corner and pulled out a race card implying that Pelosi and all of them were being a bit racist considering the race of her and her aforementioned allies in order to defend Sakit’s deleted tweet. Speaker Pelosi and long-time shady establishment hack Congressman Gregory Meeks then laid on accusations of Ocasio-Cortez being just a figurehead character whose is being controlled by her chief-of-staff.

Even though these are atypical reactions from an electorate body of officials that are cognizant of their weakening status in office and of the growing and widening disdain of them by their constituencies to undermine a young and immensely popular upstart like Ocasio-Cortez, their vindictive accusations of her being dependent on her obnoxious chief of staff does have merit.

But in actuality, it’s not only because of his tweet conflating the current shitty Congress and the shitty racist enabling one back in the day or even wearing a very stupid t-shirt, it’s mostly because he’s a dishonest person and a multi-millionaire feigning to be a revolutionary, trying to become a player in D.C.. He also could have underhanded reasons to personally profit from what on the surface are progressive policies that are being pushed.

Chakrabarti, or Chak as he will be referred to here for the sake of brevity and it sounds better, got filthy rich in Silicon Valley developing a web tool called Mockingbird and participated in Bernie Sanders miraculous yet defeated presidential campaign, followed by hooking up with the current representative of New York’s fighting fourteenth district in Northeast Queens and the South Bronx with the Justice Democrats PAC he co-formed.

But since that victory, he’s been pulling some very shady and non-progressive stunts. A few of which involved some pitiful photo ops with the all-star rookie congresswoman.

Like how he transferred $885,000 from his two PAC’s he formed, the Brand New Congress and Justice Democrats and to two new LLC’s (one of which uses the former name) so he and the congresswoman can evade transparency in how they are charging contractors for services like polling and marketing, how the funding is accrued, who is donating and how much they are donating. The purpose for these former PACs cum companies is to bolster fellow and future Justice Democrats who run for elected office.

A lot of what transpired with the transactions and the conflicts involving AOC and her chief of staff are incredibly convoluted yet almost masterful so to avoid any serious fines or even serious charges. Especially the creative way that Sakrit can work for the congresswoman and earn a taxpayer funded salary while still running these LLC’s.The fact that these are “progressives” involved in dark money transactions and the machinating efforts behind them flies in the face of the Justice Democrats creed of getting money out of politics.

Although after these initial complaints, it seems the machinating is still continuing. Back in April on Earth Day, the congresswoman held an 5k running event in Astoria touting the Green New Deal, the environmental economic program she debuted at Nancy Pelosi’s office in her first day at work in D.C. Thinking that it was for the cause, attendees paid registration fees of $30 and $20 for kids to be in the presence of the representative, but turned out that Ocasio-Cortez and her staff had integrated the event into a campaign fundraiser for her new AOC for Congress PAC. Despite the unethical bait and switch, there was no actual malfeasance because it was written in fineprint on Ocasio-Cortez’s facebook page.

When confronted about this during the run, Alexandra was able to dodge the question while holding a baby. It looked so horribly evasive as something Selena Meyer would pull.

Then there was another event she and her staff arrangedwhere she went back to her roots and tended bar in Jackson Heights to address a raise of the federal minimum wage. Despite the utter lack of disclosure to the press and the public (and her constituents), the optics of this was made worse with the bar she chose to revisit her former trade, a recently opened hipster barsteraunt. The type of establishment that usually is a harbinger for gentrification and a death knell for struggling rent-burdened tenants. Listed on the blackboard menu was a $16 order for the notorious foodie delcicacy avocado toast.

There was not much information about this event, but it would be easy to speculate that it might have been another cleverly plotted fundraiser since attendance to the publicity stunt was tightly regulated to labor union reps and some workers and the only press there was one reporter from the NY Daily News which covered it.

Since Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez is more occupied with her current job and actually doing a bang up job and also still maintaining her social media feed, the number one suspect behind these recent stunts has got to be Chief of Staff Chak. Well, now he’s evolved from that role to public enemy number one by the multi-millionaire Democrats in Congress with his twitter outbursts, who were collectively and vicariously through Speaker Pelosi were calling for Chaks head on a pike while calling for his “boss” to shut his ass up and undermining her status at the same time. Even President Trump mouthed off in solidarity defense of Nancy Pants.

Fortunately for Saikat oh Chak, the President has no sense of boundaries. Because following Nancy Pelosi’s degrading insults of Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez as well as Reps. Talib, Omar and Pressely as just four votes that don’t mean shit despite them representing millions of Americans, President Trump became emboldened by Nancy’s dressing down of those women and shot  xenophobia and racist bombs and missives from his faceanus and on social media, degrading his own office and nation even further by telling those four women to go back to horrible places where they came from since they “complain” to much. Never mind with the exception of Omar who is a citizen, the three women are from the U.S.A. and are precisely there because there is still shit wrong with this country according to a lot of voters. (I always wondered if Trump believed that the Bronx was another country). Then Trump quadrupled duced down and decided to target Omar at his second campaign rally (the first was the Farce of July) by ragging on her and waiting patiently for the crowd to chant “Send Her Back”, the sequel to the Hillary refrain “lock her up” (another promised he broke, a lot of progressives actually want that too.)

Despite this lucky distraction, and the inevitable rise in solidarity support for AOC, it still doesn’t absolve the fact that despite Trump’s vicious bloviation Chak is a bad influence and detriment to her status and her future in elected office. That’s if she gets re-elected, because despite her phenomenal celebrity, Chak is still endangering and undermining her ability to represent her district with his own social media and disruptive antics which have obviously carried over from his time as a software creator in Silicon Valley, where the general edict there is to “move fast and break things”. That shit may work in the tech community but it doesn’t work in real life with real people and in politics. His big dumb mouth is also belittling AOC not only as a congresswoman but a woman with independent ideas and visions to make her country great again. It’s like Chak thinks he’s a modern day political Svengali with her and certainly with future candidates he wants to churn from his shady superpacs. While he makes reprehensible poitical reprobates like President Trump look rational and good (until he goes off-script) and gives long time corrupt parasites like congressman Greg Meeks to recruit protege candidate hacks of his own.

She has got to get rid of this guy or her political career and whatever destiny she wants to achieve will be kaput. Otherwise the fact will rise that she is way to dependent on him and that’s not going to go over well in due time, especially with her constituents.

Which means Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez has to fire her chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti. Or at least he should voluntarily step off.

Hell, he can afford to, he’s a fucking multi-millionaire.

Jailing And Starving The Messenger To Feed The Manufacturing Consent Beast

https://cdni0.trtworld.com/w1140/h490/q75/53468_julianassange1104g_1554996472344.jpg

The rendition of Julian Assange 60 days ago is and should be the most important issue and story in the news. Meaning corporate owned news. Since his forced removal from the Ecuador Embassy and into a British penitentiary, he has been leveled with additional indictments and wrongly indicted as a spy by President Trump’s Department of Justice and is now facing an extradition trial in February 2020, surely to give him plenty of time to think about his nosy interests in the brutality and plundering done in America’s name. Which in his case was the release of the Iraq war and occupation files procured by Chelsea Manning which featured the notorious and monstrous “collateral murder” video where some troops rained death from above, killing a group of people including two journalists for Reuters.

As with everything the extremely big bad orange man baby says and does, it’s really fucked up and a tad inexplicable that he’s doing this to Assange. Even though the Wikileaks release of Hillary Clinton’s campaign emails was found to have nothing to do with any Russian “collusion” to lead to his victory, it would have been safe to assume that Donnie would have showed some empathy and sympathy with Julian’s plight being that he is also a victim (and potentially a casualty) of the fake news media he’s always (and at times rightly) bitches about. Another fucked up thing is that Manifest Hillary and her diabolical minions went out of their way to subvert democracy and Trump never bothered to “lock her up, lock her up” for the obvious seditious acts that were revealed by that idiot John Podesta’s email and text message dump (another promise denied to his base). Yet it’s not a surprise being that Trump has had it in for journalists since his salad days as a young slumlord and disaster casino magnate during his developing years as a celebrity real estate scion.

But Trump has yet again deferred to his repugnant administrative fellowship. This time the state and security departments run by psychopaths Secretary Mike Pompeo and NSA advisor John Bolton, two men who like the mendacious Mrs. Clinton want Julian Assange vaporized. After all if it wasn’t the accidental reveal in a court order referencing Assange’s indictment as a precedent to legitimize his arrest, it was Pompeo declaring Wikileaks as a non-state intelligence agency. Which is quite easy to pull off in a nation where money and corporations are cast in iron as speech and individual persons.

Because in order to pull off this warped interpretation of justice like misusing the espionage act on a foreign citizen, you have to control the narrative. In this case the predominant false narrative pushed by the powermad and data-obsessed in U.S. government “intelligence agencies” to the Military Industrial Complex to the too big to fail Banking Industrial Complex and finally to the obeisant gaping mouth monkeys in corporate networks news and even entertainment divisions, whom with repetition remind the viewers that Assange is not a real reporter.

But all that shit I mentioned above is way beyond my pay grade as a amateur reporter (but semi-pro ranter) with a digital publication, which is zero. But I know fucking well enough that Assange is a real reporter and news publisher despite all the bullshit maligning of his name and repression of his news organization. How come, Mike? Because it’s ingrained in first amendment of the U.S. Constitution you fat fuck.

The outrage and outcry of his arrest and demands for his release are abundant and universal on social media, but the press continues to remain silent, insouciant and even elated at Assange’s unlawful imprisonment. And being a local scribe, you don’t have to look that far than the New York Daily News. New York’s hometown paper, which has reached it’s centennial as a daily publication, has relegated this crucial story and fascist menace against their own journalists to the back pages right next to the obituaries. Which is not so much a subtle hint of where they expect Assange to wind up soon than an ironic plea of surrender from the paper and it’s mission as a source for news and information about the goings on in government and on the streets.

To top this cognitive dissonance reporting off, a recent NYDN op-ed desired for a memorial for journalists who wound up sacrificing their lives for their jobs, which included a lunatic’s machine gun massacre of five reporters at their office in Annapolis and the plotted assassination butchering of Jamal Kashoggi by our ally Saudi Arabia in their embassy in last year. But what the NYDN doesn’t seem or want to get is that the current jailing and treatment and spurious baseless charges and indictments of Assange is just the longer drawn-out and bloodless version of Kashoggi’s murder, meaning by using and abusing the laws on him with the same effect as how sanctions against a country would cripple it. The powers involved at Trump’s Dept. Of Justice are also making sure that Chelsea Manning will break too by levying daily fines and then doubling the fines on her the longer she holds out for refusing to testify against him in a grand jury hearing. It’s not like 15 men holding down one man and cutting him to pieces with a bonesaw, but these arbitrary litigious torture tactics are designed to drive both Assange and Manning to delirium or even suicide, which Manning already attempted during her Senate run.

It didn’t take long for the manufacturing consent goon squads to take advantage of this fascist attempt to massacre and butcher uncomfortable facts from the public view. In Australia, police raided the home of a journalist and the country’s network studios for reporting war crimes committed by their nation’s military in Afghanistan. And the self-proclaimed greatest President since George Washington recently threatened to have a Time magazine photographer arrested for trying to take a picture of a beautiful letter from his dictator buddy Kim Jong-Un.

Who know what other consequences might arise during Assange’s detainment as he awaits his extradition trial next year, not only what is expected to happen to him during his incarceration given the maltreatment he received while holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy, but what watching and reading the news is going to look like during that time. If the current format of perpetual decomposition of news coverage directed to a mostly disinterested audience with short attention spans and instant gratification addictions, you might get what NBC New York news is promoting right now. Which is to disseminate the news as if they were little pop up ads so people can be somewhat informed of current events during their mentally decrepit and addictive habits of binging on their favorite TV shows.

006

5 stories at 40 seconds a pop. NBC News NY must think this is providing a service to inform the public. This is the future of the fourth branch of government? This is the standard that will be taught in journalism classes?

But it has been the standard for quite some time now since the proliferation and dominant omniscience of the cellphone and also in a way the fact that able citizens are putting in more work hours but that’s a whole another story. The story now is that you the people are each going to continue to be less informed and more distracted with bullshit from corporate news outlets while they will continue to be under dutiful watch from all invasive sources of oppression and will be more over-meticulous of what gets published or deemed worthy of information by the likes of your government, telecoms and most fearsome of all web service companies like the trillion dollar tech overlords Facebook, Google and Amazon which will eventually design their algorithims to fit the desired information and ideologies that will be disseminated to the masses if Julian Assange gets convicted and the fourth estate gets usurped and consolidated into a cheap cartoonish propaganda machine.

Which will be fucked up for professional independent digital publications and outlets and a dinky little blog like this one here. Until then, meaning February when Assange’s trial starts, Impunity City here is going to keep on reporting and opining about the shitty state of current affairs and scold and shame and hopefully banish the fascist ratfuckers who want to reinterpret the news under the dangerous, dishonest rubric of maintaining security and safety of not only the nation and the illicit policies and criminal acts in the name of America but to manipulate the minds and numb the senses of all citizens to unwittingly yield their right to be informed.

Free press. No compromise.
